Ph.D in Political Philosophy at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, with a thesis on James Madison. Currently works in a post-doctoral research about modern and contemporary federalism. Invited Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, where he teaches courses in the areas of Political Philosophy, History of Contemporary Ideas and European Studies.
He is the author of several papers and conferences about American federalism and the Political Philosophy of the 18th century (focusing on Kant, Rousseau, Jefferson, Price). He wrote Reason and Liberty. The Political Thought of James Madison (Esfera do Caos, 2012) and “Political and Electoral System of the United States”, included in Viriato Soromenho-Marques’ The Return of America (Esfera do Caos, 2008). Co-edited
Challenges to Democratic Participation. Antipolitics, Deliberative Democracy, and Pluralism (Lexington Books, 2014) and Kant’s Political Philosophy and Philosophy of Right (CFUL, 2007). Translated to Portuguese John F. Kennedy’s Profiles in Courage (Retratos de Coragem, Esfera do Caos, 2008). He cooperates on a regular basis with the media (television, newspapers, radio) as political analyst for matters related with the USA. Member of the Center of Philosophy at the University of Lisbon and of the Institute for Political Studies Research Center at the Portuguese Catholic University, where he is Invited Professor too.
